Mission: Stop veterinarian suicides

Company: IndeVets | Year: 2020-2022

As a senior technical project manager at Jarvus, I led a software development team through the building of a web-based, mobile-friendly platform for IndeVets, a Philly-based veterinary staffing agency. The platform allows independent vets to "shift shop" (open their mobile phones, scan available animal hospital shifts nearby, and choose the ones they like based on things like distance, hours, and incentives.) These vets at IndeVets get to make their own schedules and work as much as they like, while still enjoying full company benefits. IndeVets's core mission is to improve work-life balance for veterinarians.

Why this work is important: The suicide rate among veterinarians is one of the highest among all professions. Anything we can do to make their lives easier is a step towards reducing that rate. If you have a pet, BE KIND to your vet. Check out Not One More Vet for more ways to help.

We can all help prevent suicide. If you know someone in crisis: Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (Lifeline) at 1-800-273-TALK (8255), or text the Crisis Text Line (text HELLO to 741741). Both services are free and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All calls are confidential.
